The Association of Industrial Pharmacists of Nigeria (NAIP), Kano Branch, has unveiled a strategic roadmap for its new administration following its maiden Executive Council meeting, approving the establishment of an Elders Forum, the NAIP Academy, and an annual sporting competition to strengthen professional development and unity among pharmacists.
The National Association of Industrial Pharmacists (NAIP), Kano Branch, has taken significant steps toward strengthening its structure and advancing industrial pharmacy practice following its maiden Executive Council (EXCO) meeting held on July 23, 2026. The meeting, chaired by the State Chairman, Pharm. Gershon Dashe, brought together all members of the Executive Council alongside respected elders of the association to deliberate on strategic initiatives that will shape the future of the branch.
The maiden meeting marked the beginning of a new administration focused on enhancing membership engagement, promoting professional excellence, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the association. Discussions centered on initiatives designed to empower members, preserve institutional knowledge, and foster stronger collaboration among industrial pharmacists in Kano State.
NAIP Elders Forum Established to Preserve Institutional Legacy
One of the landmark resolutions reached during the meeting was the formal establishment of the NAIP Kano Elders Forum. The forum will comprise former state chairmen and distinguished senior members of the association, serving as an advisory body that provides mentorship, strategic guidance, and institutional continuity for the branch.
The Executive Council noted that the forum will bridge the gap between experienced professionals and younger members, ensuring that valuable institutional knowledge is preserved while supporting future leadership. During the inauguration, Pharm. Bala Maikudi, FPSN, was unanimously elected as the pioneer Chairman of the NAIP Kano Elders Forum.
NAIP Academy to Strengthen Professional Development
In a move aimed at building the capacity of industrial pharmacists, the Executive Council approved the establishment of the NAIP Academy, a dedicated platform for continuous professional development.
The academy will organize seminars, workshops, webinars, and specialized training programmes covering industrial pharmacy practice, regulatory affairs, quality assurance, pharmaceutical manufacturing, leadership, entrepreneurship, supply chain management, marketing and sales, as well as career development. The initiative is expected to equip members with industry-relevant skills while preparing young pharmacists for rewarding careers within Nigeria's growing pharmaceutical sector.
Annual Cup Introduced to Foster Unity
The Executive Council also approved the introduction of the NAIP Annual Cup, an annual sporting competition designed to promote unity, wellness, and stronger relationships among pharmacists and other healthcare stakeholders across Kano State.
Beyond encouraging healthy living, the sporting event is expected to provide a platform for networking and collaboration outside the workplace, strengthening professional bonds and enhancing cooperation within the healthcare community.
A New Chapter for NAIP Kano
The resolutions reached during the maiden EXCO meeting reflect the association's commitment to innovation, professional excellence, mentorship, and sustainable growth. By establishing platforms for continuous learning, institutional guidance, and member engagement, the new leadership aims to position the Kano Branch as a model for industrial pharmacy development in Nigeria.
