In a sustained effort to promote academic excellence and reward merit, Pharm. Ahmed Gana Mohammed has instituted the Pharm. Ahmed Gana Award for Best Graduating Student from Kano and Jigawa States, an academic honour targeted at pharmacy graduates in Nigeria.
The award, which carries a cash prize of Fifty Thousand Naira (₦50,000), was established to recognize outstanding academic performance among pharmacy graduates from Kano and Jigawa States, while fostering a culture of excellence, discipline, and professionalism within the pharmaceutical community.

Speaking on the motivation behind the initiative, Pharm. Ahmed Gana Mohammed emphasized that investing in young professionals at the point of graduation is critical to shaping the future of healthcare delivery. Outstanding Performance Recognised
The recipient of the fourth edition of the award is Maryam Abubakar Sulaiman, a graduate of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bayero University, Kano. She emerged as the best graduating student from Kano/Jigawa State with an outstanding Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.84, reflecting exceptional dedication and scholarly excellence.
Her achievement reflects the very essence of the award — rewarding diligence, consistency, and academic distinction.
Award Presentation and Induction Ceremony
The award was presented on Tuesday, 13th January 2026, during the 3rd Oath-Taking and Induction Ceremony of newly qualified Pharmacists from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bayero University, Kano.
Due to his unavoidable absence, the award was handed over on behalf of Pharm. Ahmed Gana Mohammed by Pharm. Abdulmalik Muhammad Rurum. The presentation took place in the presence of the Royal Father of the Day’s representative, Pharm. Habib Uba Ringim, adding dignity and prestige to the occasion.
