At the 2025 PANS National Convention tagged EPIC’25, Bayero University Kano’s representative, Yahaya Lawan Muhammad, clinched first place in a fiercely contested national quiz that showcased brilliance and academic excellence among pharmacy students across Nigeria.
The 2025 National Convention of the Pharmaceutical Association of Nigerian Students (PANS), tagged EPIC’25, witnessed a thrilling display of intellect and speed as Yahaya Lawan Muhammad, representing Bayero University, Kano (BUK), emerged as the overall winner of the Paul Bayo PANS National Quiz Competition held on October 9, 2025, the fourth day of the convention.
The highly competitive quiz began with questions drawn from all six core departments of pharmacy — Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Microbiology, Pharmacognosy, Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmacology, and Pharmaceutical Technology. Contestants from universities across the country showcased their depth of knowledge and mastery of these essential areas.
At the end of the first stage, the top five contenders emerged from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria; Bayero University, Kano (BUK); Kaduna State University (KASU); University of Jos (UNIJOS); and Gombe State University (GSU), advancing to the knockout round that would decide the final placements.
The Battle for the Top
The final round featured a blend of professional and general knowledge, with questions on current affairs added to raise the stakes. It was an intense session of quick thinking and intellectual prowess as participants battled for supremacy. At the end of the contest, Bayero University Kano claimed the first position, followed by Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in second place, and Kaduna State University in third.

“As the Academic Director of PANS BUK, I can only say Alhamdulillah, because no amount of words can clearly express the immense joy and pride I felt when our representative emerged victorious in the PANS National Quiz Competition, competing against prestigious and academically sound universities like ABU Zaria, UNICAL, UNIJOS, KASU, SAZUG, Niger Delta University, and Bingham University.
This victory doesn't just bring the trophy home but proudly puts Bayero University Kano firmly on the national academic map — a testament to our academic excellence. The standard is indeed Golden 🏆.
