The Anti-Drugs Misuse and Abuse Program (ADMAP) chapter at Pharmaceutical Association of Nigerian Students, Bayero University Kano (BUK)  has emerged victorious in the ADMAP National Video Contest, held in commemoration of World No Tobacco Day 2025. Their compelling video, aligning with the year's theme, "Unmasking the Appeal: Exposing Industry Tactics on Tobacco and Nicotine Products," captivated the judges and viewers alike.

The contest aimed to shed light on the deceptive strategies employed by the tobacco and nicotine industries to entice users, particularly the youth. ADMAP BUK's entry stood out for its creativity, depth, and resonance with the campaign's objectives.

The top three winners are ADMAP-Bayero University Kano (BUK) Chapter in first place, ADMAP-Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) Chapter in second place, and ADMAP-University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) Chapter in third place.

Honorable Mentions were University of Ibadan and University of Ilorin

Yusuf Yahaya Kanti, the ADMAP BUK Coordinator, expressed profound gratitude for the recognition, stating, "Winning the contest has amplified ADMAP BUK's impact as a voice against drug abuse and misuse. It also inspired us to do more in promoting a healthier, tobacco-free lifestyle."

He also acknowledged the unwavering commitment of the team, especially ADMAP BUK Secretary, Shuaib Suraj, and appreciated the national leadership for organizing such a meaningful contest.

ADMAP National Chairperson, Rufai Gabriel, lauded the contest's success, noting, "The contest helped raise awareness in a creative way, making the fight against tobacco more relatable and inspiring."

The World Health Organization's 2025 campaign theme, "Unmasking the Appeal," focuses on revealing the tactics that the tobacco and nicotine industries use to make their harmful products seem attractive, particularly to young people.

The victory under the leadership of Yusuf Kanti not only underscores ADMAP BUK’s commitment to public health advocacy but also serves as a clarion call for continued efforts in combating tobacco use and its associated harms.
