As a pharmacist, I developed a keen interest in merging clinical expertise with technology to address chronic health conditions. This led me to establish Specxs Care Limited, where we design wearable medical devices that offer non-invasive alternatives to traditional drug therapies. For example, our smart bladder device treats urinary incontinence through electro-modulation rather than medication, reducing side effects and significantly improving quality of life. Witnessing this innovation positively impact over 2,000 beneficiaries in northern Nigeria has been incredibly fulfilling and continues to inspire me to push the boundaries of healthcare innovation.

 

My entrepreneurial journey, however, began long before my work in healthcare. From an early age, I was drawn to entrepreneurship, selling cookies and sweets in primary school, hawking provisions and beverages, and eventually selling tea and bread on the streets of my village. These experiences nurtured my entrepreneurial spirit and culminated in the establishment of my community’s first mobile laundry service. I’ve always been fascinated by solving problems, even creating challenges as opportunities to devise solutions. Through peer influence and hands-on experience, I learned how to start businesses with zero capital, creating impact along the way. These formative experiences solidified my passion for entrepreneurship as a tool for creating meaningful change.

 

What drives me most is the desire to develop sustainable solutions to pressing healthcare problems. By leveraging my background in biology, pharmacy, and leadership—bolstered by my training as a Mandela Washington Fellow—I strive to integrate innovation, education, and advocacy to transform lives. This vision informs everything I do, from creating IoT-based flood management systems to combating drug abuse through impactful awareness campaigns.
